More about Juany, Jorge, Geronimo and family:
Family!
I apologize in advance, I am not going to be
able to write much in this email because I spent a lot of time writing
individuals, but it was a good week! We finished up the last week of the
transfer and we have wonderful investigators who will soon enter the
waters of baptism. I was pleased to see that our numbers for this
transfer added up to be higher in almost every category than my last
change. This is naturally a good feeling, but a relief for me as it was
my first transfer as the senior companion and I was training.. which
means I was focused and stressed on many many things, but still we did
better than the last transfer! Whoo!! Still lots of room for
improvement.
Alright, I was convinced by Dad to
share more about the family we are teaching. They are far enough along
now that I dont think I will jinx it haha.
Juany is the mom
and she is so wonderful. She has taken hold of the gospel and is
applying principles to her life before we even teach them. This week we
asked her how she knows the church is true. First she told us that the
night she prayed about it she had a horrrrrrible dream and I was like
"shoot... how am I supposed to explain this?", but she proceeded to tell
us about it. Satan was pulling on her and trying to keep her from
progressing. She said she was so scared, but determined that if he was
trying so hard to hold her back, it must be because its true. Then she
told us how their family has just been so strengthened since we started
coming and she has desires to just be a better person. That is only a
brieffff summary, but she is great. She loves church and is ready to be
baptized. She is trying really hard to quit drinking coffee and is
having headaches and such, but is pushing through. Pray for this sweet
lady! Jorge is the dad, and HE CAME TO CHURCH ON SUNDAY!! He committed last Monday and teased me allllllllllll week that he was going to work on Sunday
instead. He LOVES to tease me because he knows I want him to come so
bad. But he came (and the whole 3 hours he kept saying he was going to
go home... all with a huge smile on his face). Geronimo got together a
white button down shirt and slacks for church, and a young man in the
ward gave him a tie. He is soooo precious. Jonathan had to work this
past Sunday, but we are hoping he will build his testimony strong enough to take the steps to change his hours.
Pedro,
the doctor, is.. I dont know. He has so much going on his life right
now and if we are being honest, I am at a TOTAL loss at how to go about
teaching him. Its stressing me out haha cause this is so critical to his
salvation and I am like "ahhh I have to do this rightttt". Welcome to
the mission life. You feel responsible for the salvation of souls.
Angel came to the baptism of a little girl on Saturday
and it was heart breaking because he turned to his friend that
introduced him to the church and said "This was supposed to be my
baptism..". Prayers that he can stay strong in these next years.
Mere is supposed to get baptized this upcoming Saturday.
There is MUCH to get done before then in the way of her wedding and
what not, and I am not sure if it was all get done, but we will put our
faith in the Lord and accept His will.
I love
you alllllllllllllllll. I was going to type up some scriptures I want
yall to read, but I{ll just committ you all the reading them in your own
time (like the missionary that I am). Alma 37:38-46 with special
attention on 44-46. The course is clear and simple. Don{t be slothful
because of the easiness of the way.
Have a fabulous week and eat LOTS of pie for me on Thanksgiving. Oh my gosh... pie. *tear*
Con mucho amor,
Hermana Roberts
