Another slow week
Hoooooollllllaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa,
Well still a
slow week considering we still dont really have too many new people to
teach, but it was still a good week! We are making some progress and
have found one lady with some real potential!! Other than that, we are
just searching and contacting references and walking a ton. They should
rearrange the pioneer childrens song that goes "they walked and walked
and walked and walked" to be about missionaries.
We
did have zone conference this week though which was great! I love when
President comes becuase hes so inspirational. My companion and I were
also asked to give some training too so that was pretty cool! One thing
that President talked about that I want to share with yall is about when
Peter walked on water and then sank due to fear. We had to think about
it first... what was Peters plan? Do you think he was PLANNING on
walking on the water to meet Christ? more likely, he was probably
planning on swimming to him, or something, but he probably wasnt
expecting to WALK on the water. So when he ventured out and started to
walk.. he got scared and sank. The Lord has his plan to help us reach
him. We have our own plans, and even if they are probably good plans, he
has a better one. Most of the time, we dont know what it is, but when
he changes our plan, we shouldnt get scared. We will reach him, and he
will help us get there in the most effective way. That was an
interesting perspective that I really enjoyed.
Yesterday
I bore my testimony in church and it was one of the best testimonies I
have given since being on my mission. It was simple, but it was real and
my heart was full. I didnt need to put fancy words or try to impress,
just say what I knew to be true and I let the Spirit speak to the hearts
of others according to their needs. The truth applies to everyone, we
dont need to try and make it more complicated.
It was also a really fulfilling Sunday.
The inactive family, or should I say active family, came again. The
father recieved the priesthood and will be baptizing their 8 year old
son next Sunday.
Another
inactive member has now come 2 weeks in a row and has a really strong
convinction to return. Its quite miraculous. Not due to our work, but
just how his reactivation came to be. He had a cool experience of a
personal promise he made to his father in heaven.
Geronimo passed the sacrament. The whole family was present in church of course.
Mere
was present. This isnt unusual, but I remember when i first got here
and she NEVER had a ride and we had to work SO hard just to ensure she
could come. But I realized that after much work on our part, we never
have to do that anymore.
Angel bore his testimony in
sacrament and I dont even know what he said because I was just trying to
control myself for bawling. When I saw him get up, I just couldnt hold
it in. He told about how he came to now the chuch was true. He is so
strong that kid.
I got this feeling like "you
didnt what you were supposed to do here Hermana Roberts" impression.
Youve helped build this branch up with numbers and you have helped make
them a little more self sufficient. These were two of my goals here and
even though I had a lot of bumps and bruises in the process, I was able
to see the fruits of my labors. It was, as Dad says, a pay day.
Love
you all so much! My testimony is growing so much and I just love this
gospel so much. I know The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
is true. I know the priesthood was restored to the earth and that we can
make convenants to bind us to our Father in Heaven and to our families
forever. I am so grateful for the opportunity to declare it.
Con mucho amor,
Hermana Roberts
