Week after Conference

Family,

This week we unfortunately dropped Maria and Edwin. It was something that I was pouring my heart over in prayer for and we decided to talk to her about just how she was feeling what her progress means. She doesnt have the support of her husband, nor her family, and so her progress haulted. She was making a lot of excuses, and even if they were good, when someone truly wants the gospel, they make it possible. They make the changes. She said she likes the church and feels good and everything, but right now she just cant commit to anything. We told her we would keep visiting every once and while to help her get to baptism still, but sadly..... she has pretty much given us the cold shoulder. She doesnt answer our phone calls and when we pass by her house, she doesnt answer the door or shuts the door when she sees us coming. Its pretty heartbreaking. But we have to move on, right?

With the Family Hernandez. Luis was home this weekend and we went to visit. When we got there he was asleep, supposedly resting to leave for work on sunday morning.. so we just were going to teach Yuriana. First my companion asked her how she was feeling and... she just broke down crying. We ended up just in hugs and I may have gotten after Daniel a little bit because his behavior really isnt good. We ended up taking him outside, including him crying, and giving him a talk, but it was realllyyyyy good and it all ended in having the Spirit it being able to help him set goals.
When we went back inside, Luis was awake.. as soon as we sat down he was like "i broke my committment..:" and just started to cry. He cried a lot. He said he went 2 weeks without drinking, but failed the past two days. He felt HORRIBLE. We were able to give him a pep talk, share scriptures, and also set goals with him. He cried pretty much the whole time and decided not to leave for work the next morning, but to go to general conference instead. We finished with a kneeling prayer with the whole family, given my Luis, where he poured his heart out. When we left, everyone was smiling. Hermana Tah and I are praying and fasting and working hard for them to have an eternal family.

That felt good. We are still working with other people and trying so hard to help the progress, but not too much to tell there. One man, named Modesto, came with us to the sunday morning of General Conference and seemed to like it. We are working with him and his grown daughter and gave them both copies of the Book of Mormon this morning.

Conference was good! Listened to it all in Spanish this time and actually understood!! Whoo. But I will admit i am downloading it all in English... :)

LOVE YOU ALL. Lots of prayers please.

Con mucho amor,
Hermana Roberts
