Happy Birthday Daddy!!
There really isnt too much to report this week, it was fairly uneventful. None of our investigators went to church this week, which is a totalllll bummer, but it is what it is. We are working hard and have good numbers and stuff, we just arent getting the conversion in there right now.. but I am sure we will find those are chosen soon! In fact, we met someone that I am feeling reallyyyy good about, named Christina. Shes married and has two little girls and they are adorable. They make me think of Lily and Cali (but Lily and Cali are cuter of course). Anyways, we have our second lesson with her tonight and so pray for her!! I am always afraid of the jinxing thing haha but I feel good about her. Surely there are some really prepared people here.. I am hoping she is one of them!
Last week we went on splits with the sister training leaders which was fun. I went to the other area, called Zarco, which is in the center of Saltillo pretty much. Its not too far away, but still very different. The areas really vary a lot. Apparently Hermana Tah and I are working great and they are really proud of us cause not only did they tell us, but our zone leaders were calling us and telling us how proud they are of our work and yata yata so I guess we´re doing alright haha.
One experience that I had while we were on splits is that we went to go teach a lady named Maria (I think everyone is named Maria... if you had to guess what someones name is.... guess Maria). She was just a contact the sisters had made a few days before and we went to visit her. She lives basically on a lot of trash.. and there house is literally made of cardboard. When we arrived we had to more or less hike over small hills of trash and who knows what to where Maria was heating up milk in a saucepan over a hand made fire of twigs. Her husband set up to buckets for us to sit on and there we gave the lesson. I dont know if she will progress much and I probably wont ever know cause I dont actually work there, but just wanted to give yall an idea of some of the experiences we have. Clearly this isnt everyone, but it happens.
Very quick update on the Hernandez Family. Luis came home this weekend, but we didnt end up having time to visit them much. One really quick visit, but we didnt get to talk to him much. None of them went to church this week, minus Daniel, the 14 year old convert. This week we had a pretty stressful day with them because Yuriana got a stomach infection, supposedly from so much stress, and was really sick. Daniel ended up running to the bishops house for help because she was passing out. They got her to the doctor and medication, but turns out they dont have any money nor food. We later went to visit them and we talked to Yuriana, who was doing better, and tried to feel out the money situation. Turns out she doesnt know how to manage money and honestly it was a very frustrating/heart breaking visit and I am just torn as to what to do. Mostly because there isnt much we can do. And the bigger problem is that they dont HAVE money in the first place for her to manage. I dont know how Luis is doing but we are feeling at a loss and distressed for this family. I am hoping and praying is just a phase but I feel like the problems we are discovering run deeper than I originally thought.
Well there is the update. We are keeping on keeping on. Have a great week everyone. Love and miss you lots! I LOVE THIS GOSPEL!! I just wish everyone else would recognize if for themselves too.... :)
