Education and Getting to School
Hello hello!
We had a really good this week this week!! I have been working really hard in improving in faith and I think the Lord is letting us see the fruits of our labors.
We have been teaching a woman named Lucia for about 2 weeks now and she is progressing GREAT!! She said she thinks the Book of Mormon is true, even though she originally had some doubts with it, up until she realized we were also using the Bible. We taught her about Jospeh Smith and the Book of Mormon and she accepted it like a champ. Her husband, who wasnt in any previous lessons, was actually there for that lesson and was being slightly difficult (although I enjoyed "fighting" (not really) back and forth with him about the improtance of doing this WITH his wife and testifying of the importance of family) and when he had a bunch of doubts, Lucia started DEFENDING the Book of Mormon and basically the truthfulness of the Gospel!! We were so shocked and more than pleased, of course. We set a baptismal date with her and she was like "I want to do this right. I will do what is necessary to do this right!" and she made it to church on Sunday!! The day before we visited to talk about the Spirit and how she could recognize the truthfulness of the things we are teaching her, and we also invited her 9 year old daughter to be baptized. They were like "we are actually really glad you brought that up because right before yall came over we were talking about it" and we set the date for her too. They liked church on Sunday and we have plans to keep working with them this week. We walk away from there house just about ready to cry cause shes just so perfectly prepared and such a wonderful example of faith.
The other experience I wanted to share is that I discovered how passionate I am about teaching in the home and in the importance of education....
We were teaching Yuriana and Angel one afternoon and at the end of the lesson we asked Angel if he was about to hed off to school. They were like "he wont make it now" and I was so mad cause I was like "why didnt you tell us!!!?? we thought he still had time!!" and after a little they were like "well.. he wasnt going to go anyways cause he hasnt eaten"...... because they didnt have food or money. I was like "welp... lets go! we are buying you something on the way to school and we are going! lets go!!". They were like "the doors are already shut and locked... what are you going to do?" and I was like "I will talk to the principle.. lets go!!". They caught on that we were actually serious and Angel got dressed and we left. Once we got to the school, sure enough the gates were closed. They dont have front offices or anything like that here like they do there, so I yelled through the gates until someone came out and I talked to them and let him in..... :). We waited until we saw him walk into his classroom. We were like "welp... job well done". Haha. I just want the kids in the family to not be subject to their circumstances...
We had lots of new investigators this week and we´ll see how they progress this week. Last night we had training with 3 stakes and got to see all the missionaries that are here in those 3 stakes so that was fun. I really liked the training we recieved (all the ward councils for all the wards in the 3 stakes were there) given by an area authority and I hope that we can all put it in practice to have more productive ward councils. It was really great!!
The last thing was that I got to see my beautiful Hermana Tah!!!! We both hugged eachother and cried there in front of everyone being able to see eachother. I miss her a lot, but she said she misses me more haha. Unfortunately she is reallllyyyyy struggling in her new area. And her pain is getting worse and told me President is planning on sending her home this week or next........ that only made me cry all over again. Please pray for her. I dont know what the Lord´s will is but just pray for her please.
I LOVE YOU ALL!! Have a good week!!
Con amor,
Hermana Robert
